#GoRed for Stormy’s legacy
Each year, my sweet friend Weslea honors her dad’s legacy by fundraising for the American Heart Association in the Austin Heart Walk:
My dad, William “Stormy” Booth was 61 years old when he was taken from this world by a heart attack on September 9, 2009.

A cowboy through and through, his greatest pleasure was working with horses, whether it was winning his All Around Champion rodeo title in 1965 or training a colt up “the right way.” However, his greatest joy was his family. His heart and soul were larger than life, and his love for his family was never ceasing.
Who was Stormy? He was a son, a best friend, a husband, a father, and one of the greatest cowboys we have ever known. The life of the party, a gifted storyteller, the strength of a giant.
There is a song performed by Trent Willmon that speaks to what I hope met my dad on the other side: “But I’ve heard it said that old cowboys don’t die. They get put out to pasture way up in the sky. 2015 Texas Strong Timeline 2015 Texas Strong was all about community for me. When I talked to a publishing consultant friend about my children’s book months ago, she told me I first needed to build my online presence. Little did I know what was in store for this year. In March, I learned that author…
I am 31 years old. Somehow, turning 31 in April felt much more difficult than turning 30 the year before but I’ve found that there’s beauty in this age. I’m old enough to know who and whose I am, what I want and what I don’t want, yet I’m young enough to know what I…
This month, I’m so pleased to introduce you to November’s Texas Strong Woman of the Month, my incredible friend Cathleen Wenger. This creative, fashion-savvy and philanthropic, working momma of three (with one more on the way) never ceases to amaze me with her dedication to her family, her church and her central Texas community. Meet…
When my Texas Strong shirts raised $146,000 after the Memorial Day floods hit Hays and Caldwell counties in 2015, I had no that Hurricane Harvey would rock southeast Texas two years later. I was born in Austin and raised in central Texas, but my mother and grandmother were born in Houston. The bulk of my…
I’ll never forget the day I missed my oldest daughter rolling over for the first time. My precious baby was in good hands, of course. My mother-in-law was watching her downstairs in our living room while I worked upstairs, futilely trying to run a nonprofit from my home office right after giving birth to my…
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but I already have my Christmas cards ready to send out, Christmas music playing on Pandora and most of my online gift shopping done. (Hey, once Halloween is over, it’s game on, although we don’t decorate until after Thanksgiving.) I took a look at my own wishlist and decided to put together my…

This is lovely and such a great cause.
My grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s for almost a decade. It was heart-wrenching.
You’re awesome Lauren – tweeting this out for you. <3
