My Big Fat Writer’s Wishlist (And A Linkup)
I knew I loved to write when I was in 4th grade.
Fiction was my forte back then but somewhere along the way, I decided I had more important things to say. As a wife, mom to two littles and Alzheimer’s daughter, I’ve found that telling real stories and advocating for the brokenhearted is my calling.
After building community through my #texasstrong fundraiser and several Christian authors’ launch teams this year, I’m ready to dive into writing and publishing my own books in the new year!
Below is my writer’s wishlist for 2016.
My Big Fat Writer’s Wishlist for 2016
Planners and pens
I just ordered Your Best Year 2016: Productivity Workbook and Creative Business Planner* for blog/social media planning but I’m digging this cute and colorful Do It All Secret Garden Planner from Orange Circle Studio, complete with stickers, tear-off lists and an elastic band closure, for overall planning next year. (Of course, I also love Corie Clark’s Purposeful Planner.)
And one can never have too many Sharpie fine-point pens to fill those pretty planners!
Home office furniture
I have been freshening up my home office/craft room in recent months, with green paint on the walls and white chalk paint on the repurposed craft table and cabinet I gleaned from my grandmother’s garage. But I’ve been ogling this gorgeous white Ikea Hemnes desk with hutch and bookcase, since I’m still using the same heavy, laminate desk and bookcases I’ve had since middle school.
Workbooks and guides
After finishing Jessica N. Turner’s The Fringe Hours this month, I’m itching to get my hands on her brand-new workbook, My Fringe Hours, to help me make the best use of those small pockets of time.
I’d also love to add the 2016 Christian Writer’s Market Guide and UK blogger Fiona Humberstone‘s workbook, How to Style Your Brand to my writer’s library.
Writing conference
Attending a writer’s conference to learn tricks of the trade and network with literary agents, publishers and other writers is tops on my list for next year. I would love to attend Lysa TerKeurst’s She Speaks conference next summer in North Carolina but, right now, the Re:Write conference in Austin, Texas, is looking a bit more realistic.
Tablet or laptop
While I love my aging desktop computer, every legitimate writer needs a convertible tablet or mini laptop to take out on the deck or to the coffee shop, right? I’ve been eyeing an affordable and portable Acer Chromebook to take my book and blog writing on the road (and off my phone).

Love,
I love everything on your list! It’s like a virtual gift basket to sit under my tree! I think I’ll send this along to my hubby!
