40 Easy, Fun Easter Basket Ideas for Preschoolers
Being an Easter baby, Easter baskets are one of my most favorite traditions! I loved coming up with this list of Easter basket ideas for preschoolers (and toddlers, too).
This list is as much for me as it is for you, my readers, because I want the “Easter Bunny” to remember to fill my toddler and preschool age daughters’ baskets with fun, useful, healthy (and affordable!) goodies each year.
The idea of traditions like the Easter Bunny (and Santa Claus) is to make your kids feel intimately known and unconditionally loved, so be sure to tailor this list to your kids’ specific talents and interests.

40 Easy, Fun Easter Basket Ideas for Preschoolers
For educational and creative fun
Books
One of my favorites for little ones is the beautifully illustrated book, God Gave Us Easter*. The Easter Bunny brought this sweet story of God’s love to our younger daughter for her first Easter last year. You can also choose one of our best-loved bunny books for Easter.
If the preschoolers are grieving the loss of a loved one, you might consider giving them one of my children’s books, Where Did My Sweet Grandma Go? or Where Did My Sweet Grandpa Go?.
Puzzles
Flashcards
This is a good opportunity to help them learn with fun alphabet, numbers, sign language, Spanish, or, even, Bible trivia cards. I suppose if you want to get crafty, you could make these yourself.
Simple games like Memory
Play dough
You can even make your own homemade play dough with this recipe. We like to “scent” ours with essential oils.
Stickers or temporary tattoos
Finger paint or watercolors
Coloring books or drawing pad
Washable markers or crayons
I’ve found triangular crayons are easier for tiny hands, because they don’t roll off the tabletop.
Safety scissors and glue stick
My three-year-old loves making collages using these and catalogs or old magazines.
Magnet sets
We recently gave our three-year-old nephew this Curious George magnetic tin play set* that is too cute. My daughters love to play with their magnetic Mary & Martha Bible verse puzzle and alphabet on our fridge and dishwasher.
Play instruments like maracas, kazoo, harmonica, recorder, or tambourine
Felt food or tea set for play kitchen
Movie or CD
There are several good Easter-themed Veggie Tales options.
Kid-sized kitchen tools, apron or plastic cookie cutters
This is great for young kids who love helping in the kitchen!
For outdoor and water fun
Summer clothes
Colorful socks
Sun hat or baseball cap
Swimsuit
Swim goggles
This is my three-year-old’s newest discovery because of swim lessons. She calls them her “mask” though 🙂
Pool toys
Sunglasses
Flip flops or sandals
I prefer ones with a strap around the heel to keep them on.
Sidewalk chalk
Bubbles
Kid-sized gardening tools and gloves or seeds
Make sure the seeds are something easy to grow, such as a heartier herb like basil or mint.
Shatterproof water bottle or straw cup
You can even order personalized labels with your child’s name to put on all of their bottles or cups. We love the ATX’s own inchbug orbit labels* at our house.
Kid-sized flashlight
Kid-sized binoculars
You’re never too young to start bird (and squirrel) watching!
Individually packaged snacks like raisins
For sweet dreams and bath time fun
Pajamas
Nightlight
Bubble bath
Bath toys
Colorful washcloths, loofah, or sponge
Hairbrush or comb
Toothbrush and toothpaste
The more fun and flavorful these are, the easier it will be to get your kids excited about brushing their teeth. I personally love Earthpaste Toothpaste in Lemon Twist*, because it tastes great but it’s okay if they swallow it.
For little girls
Hair ties, bows, clips, or headbands
Lip balm
Bracelets

I’ve found the best and most economical places to purchase these basket stuffers are Target (think dollar bins in the front of the store), dollar stores and, my personal favorite, online through Amazon Prime (free shipping!).
Anything you would add to this list?
I’d love to read your ideas in the comments.

Those little jelly pills that desolve in water and have sponge shaped animals grow out of them.
Nice, I thought about those when I listed sponges but couldn’t remember what they were called!!
What a great list of ideas! My daughter would especially love the chalk & bubbles.
Thanks! Yes, outdoor play is the name of the game for us right now.
Great list! Only thing I can think of to add would be a dry erase board & lots of colorful dry erase markers!
